Behavior Support Technician

Salary: $34,080 per annum
As a Behavior Support Technician, you will be instrumental in delivering Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy to individuals diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. The clients you will assist will range from 18 months to 13 years of age. Your commitment and skills will significantly impact the development and progress of clients, enabling them to acquire vital life skills and reach their maximum potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute tailored ABA therapy programs under the guidance of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
- Engage closely with clients and their families to build trust, rapport, and effective communication.
- Employ behavior management strategies to tackle challenging behaviors and encourage positive behavioral changes.
- Deliver individualized therapy sessions to clients, adhering to established treatment plans and intervention techniques.
- Gather and document data on client progress and behaviors during therapy sessions.
- Collaborate with the BCBA and team members to evaluate data and modify intervention strategies as necessary.
- Support clients in enhancing their social, communication, and adaptive skills.
- Integrate play-based activities and structured teaching methods to effectively engage and instruct clients.
- Ensure a safe and nurturing therapeutic environment for clients while fostering a positive atmosphere.
- Participate in regular team meetings and training sessions to improve your skills and stay informed about best practices in ABA therapy.
- Follow ethical guidelines and maintain the confidentiality of client information at all times.
- Assist in the preparation of progress reports and documentation for client assessments and evaluations.
- Achieve RBT or Registered Behavior Technician Certification within six months of employment.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; a bachelor's degree in psychology, education, or a related field is preferred.
- Prior experience working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities is advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to cultivate positive relationships with clients, families, and colleagues.
- Patience, empathy, and a sincere desire to positively impact the lives of others.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Reliable transportation and the capability to travel to various locations.
- Availability to work Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
