Job Summary

The Department of Pathology at The University of Iowa is seeking a Clinical Technician III to operate and maintain specialized medical equipment, collect whole blood, and perform various laboratory tests. This is a 100% time position with flexible scheduling options.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain specialized medical equipment, including cell separators and automated analyzers.
  • Collect whole blood and perform phlebotomy procedures.
  • Screen blood donors for eligibility and perform physical examinations.
  • Collect and process blood samples for laboratory analysis.
  • Perform quality control checks on equipment and report any malfunctions.
  • Maintain accurate records and data collection using manual and computer methods.
Requirements
  • Three years of healthcare experience with direct patient care, including use and maintenance of specialized medical equipment.
  • At least one year of prior experience at the level of a Clinical Technician II or equivalent.
  • Public contact experience with excellent customer service skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet University of Iowa Fleet Safety Program standards.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to collect data and maintain accurate records.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform phlebotomy.
  • Ability to operate and perform skilled maintenance on various types of highly specialized medical equipment.
