We are seeking a talented Automation Specialist for a significant contract opportunity. This role offers long-term potential and is focused on enhancing laboratory automation processes.
Job Overview:
Compensation: $40 - $44/hour. Employee benefits include health insurance (medical, dental, vision), a 401(k) plan, and paid sick leave, depending on work location.
Key Responsibilities:
- Integrate Robotics: Seamlessly incorporate liquid handling robotics with supporting instruments to execute molecular and cellular biology workflows.
- Automate Assays: Validate and deploy automated workflows for various assays, including DNA/RNA purification and NGS library preparation.
- Collaborate with Scientists: Work closely with scientists to translate benchtop processes into fully automated workflows.
- Process Design: Develop user-friendly, end-to-end processes on integrated lab automation platforms.
- Troubleshooting: Perform advanced troubleshooting alongside scientists to enhance process efficiency.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with teams to integrate workflows into automated systems.
- User Training: Train end-users in the operation of automated platforms and workflow execution.
- Stay Updated: Keep abreast of advancements in automation technology.
- Independent Development: Work independently on novel automated workflows.
- Record Keeping: Maintain meticulous records of all experiments conducted.
- Lab Management: Oversee lab and equipment organization and maintenance.
Key Requirements:
- Master's degree with 1+ years or Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of experience in bioengineering or biology with a focus on automation platforms.
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience programming and troubleshooting liquid handling platforms.
- Direct experience with laboratory operations and maintenance of automation instruments.
- Strong understanding of molecular and cellular biology, including NGS assays.
- Proven ability to create and maintain Installation Qualifications (IQ), Operational Qualifications (OQ), and Performance Qualifications (PQ) protocols.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills within a multidisciplinary team.
- Functional knowledge of at least one high-level programming language.
- Experience with Beckman-Coulter and/or Dynamic Devices liquid handling platforms.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
