Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Controller to oversee all financial operations of our organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and government contracting regulations. This position will be remote-based, requiring excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as strong attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions.
  2. Prepare monthly and annual financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  3. Oversee all functional accounting areas, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, financial reporting, cash flow management, revenue recognition, and cost analysis.
  4. Collaborate with project managers and other team members on accounting changes driven by federal, state, or internal requirements.

Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop and manage annual budgets and forecasts, monitoring actual performance against budget and forecast, and identifying variances. Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • CPA certification or MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in accounting and finance, including experience in government contracting.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, Uniform Guidance, and government contracting regulations.
  • Familiarity with Form 990 preparation and nonprofit-specific accounting issues.
