Position Overview

Role Summary: Collaborate with classroom educators to assist with instructional activities, engaging directly and indirectly with students. This role primarily focuses on supporting educational tasks and includes supervision during lunch and recess.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate general classroom operations, including the setup and management of audiovisual and physical education equipment, as well as preparing art supplies.
  • Provide individualized or small group support to students in various subjects and skills, such as mathematics, science, language arts, color identification, decision-making, and self-esteem enhancement.
  • Assist in large group activities or projects, including art, physical education, and drama.
  • Identify and procure specialized instructional materials for students facing unique learning challenges.
  • Prepare and duplicate worksheets, assessments, and other instructional resources.
  • Possess a foundational understanding of iPads, Chromebooks, and Google Suite.
  • Grade assessments using computer systems and maintain accurate records in grade books.
  • Supervise students during lunch and recess periods.
  • Execute additional duties as assigned by the principal or designated authority.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Proven ability to engage effectively with students.
  • Experience with computers and word processing is advantageous.
  • Applicants may meet the Highly Qualified requirement through one of the following:
    • Completion of two years of higher education (minimum of 60 semester credits) OR
    • Possession of an Associate's degree or higher OR
    • Successful completion of the ParaPro Assessment.
  • Must achieve Highly Qualified status within 30 days of employment; the district will cover exam fees and up to 10 hours of preparation and testing time.
Compensation: Refer to the Classification II (2) salary grid and the Classification I (1) salary grid as outlined in the Educational Support Professional contract.

Work Schedule: 6 hours per day; 4 hours dedicated to instructional tasks and 2 hours for clerical duties.

Employment Type: Part-time, school year.

Bargaining Unit: Educational Support Professional.
