Job Description

Create an exceptional customer experience through outstanding service and maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages customer loyalty.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide visible and engaging customer service, greeting and assisting customers promptly.
  • Process customer transactions efficiently and accurately through the check lane.
  • Understand and operate the Point of Sale (POS) system, handling various tenders and checkout procedures according to company policy.
  • Adhere to company guidelines on cash shortages and overages, working honestly to control loss.
  • Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator and follow established policies for restricted sale items.
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads, and adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues.
  • Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying the appropriate department or store manager of any items in need of repair.
  • Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store.
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws, and company guidelines.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment, manage conflict in a reasonable and nonconfrontational manner, and act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues, and provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.

Qualifications:

  • Customer service experience
  • Effective communication skills
  • Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction)
