About the Role: In this position, you will be pivotal in fostering a culture of Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) within the organization. Your responsibilities will encompass extensive auditing, assessment, and training initiatives on-site. As an EH&S Specialist, you will collaborate with the EH&S team to ensure the effective execution of policies, procedures, and training that align with regulatory standards. Your role will involve interpreting regulatory requirements and providing actionable recommendations to the EH&S Manager for compliance and implementation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluating and overseeing safety and environmental programs, utilizing key metrics for informed decision-making.
  • Staying updated on current and proposed regulations related to assigned programs, offering insights for compliance and enhancement.
  • Assisting in the formulation of EH&S standard operating procedures, specifications, and guidelines to cultivate a robust EH&S culture.
  • Conducting regular safety and environmental inspections and audits in accordance with established policies.
  • Engaging in incident investigations and supporting management in determining corrective actions, while documenting findings in the appropriate databases.
  • Gathering and entering data to assess risks and review Environmental, Health & Safety programs aimed at achieving operational excellence.
  • Maintaining oversight of all aspects of workplace EH&S, including accident investigations, compliance reporting, and corrective action lists.
  • Supporting various projects as needed, including tracking and monitoring systems and addressing employee concerns.
  • Proactively identifying EH&S needs to avert workplace incidents.
  • Participating actively in Safety Committee meetings and fulfilling team responsibilities.
  • Managing EH&S documentation, including procedure inspections and safety risk assessments.
  • Collaborating with the EH&S Manager and other departments to implement preventive measures.
  • Leading Hazard Communications by auditing chemicals in use and updating Safety Data Sheets and GHS Labels as necessary.
  • Encouraging open communication among Business Units to enhance EH&S programs.
  • Researching and facilitating EH&S-related purchases.
  • Overseeing First Aid Cabinets, AED Stations, and personal protective equipment.
  • Ensuring proper collection, storage, and disposal of hazardous, medical, electronic, and universal wastes.
  • Delivering EH&S training and presentations, including new employee orientation and ongoing training.
  • Assisting other facilities with Environmental, Safety, and Health concerns globally.
  • Performing additional tasks and projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree in safety, occupational safety, Environmental Studies, business, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may substitute for degree.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable laws and regulations, including OSHA, NFPA, DOT, and EPA.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills; attention to detail and analytical skills are essential.
  • Ability to train others and demonstrate strong administrative skills.
  • Self-motivated with the capability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to pass a Pulmonary Function Test and wear a respirator.
  • Participation in the On-Call program is necessary.
  • Physical capability to lift 75 pounds safely and perform various physical tasks.
