Certified Surgical Technician

As a Certified Surgical Technician at Citizens Medical Center, you will play a vital role in maintaining the integrity, safety, and efficiency of the sterile field throughout surgical procedures. You will apply age-specific needs in the planning and implementation of surgical procedures, demonstrating expertise in scrubbing for cardiovascular, peripheral vascular, and thoracic procedures. Additionally, you will take call on a rotating basis, ensuring seamless coverage and exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Participate in safety management and infection control programs, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for patients and staff.
- Assemble items needed for specific surgical procedures, taking into account each surgeon's preferences and protocols.
- Create and maintain sterile fields for surgical procedures, adhering to strict standards and guidelines.
- Clean, assist with the sterilization of, and store instruments, equipment, and supplies, maintaining a high level of organization and efficiency.
- Identify medications correctly, ensuring accurate administration and minimizing errors.
- Assist other surgical team members with the cleaning of the operating room, preparing for the next procedure.
- Assist the circulating nurse and/or anesthesia personnel as requested, providing support and expertise as needed.
- Assist with the orientation of new personnel, ensuring a smooth transition and effective onboarding.
- Take call as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to exceptional patient care.
- Demonstrate proficiency in the technical skills associated with cardiovascular, peripheral vascular, and thoracic procedures, staying up-to-date with the latest techniques and best practices.
- Graduate from an accredited surgical technology program or accredited school of vocational nursing.
- Current certification as a Surgical Technologist or current license to practice as a Licensed Vocational Nurse in the State of Texas.
- Must use comprehensive judgment in making decisions related to the channeling of communications.
- Exhibits and exercises an awareness of own legal responsibilities in delivering patient care.
- 2 years of experience as a Certified Surgical Technician or Licensed Vocational Nurse.
