Job Summary:

You will apply age-specific needs in the planning and implementation of surgical procedures, demonstrating expertise in scrubbing for cardiovascular, peripheral vascular, and thoracic procedures. You will also participate in the safety management and infection control programs, assemble items needed for specific surgical procedures, and create and maintain sterile fields for surgical procedures.

Responsibilities:
  • Participate in the safety management and infection control programs
  • Assemble items needed for specific surgical procedures
  • Create and maintain sterile fields for surgical procedures
  • Clean, assist with the sterilization of, and store instruments, equipment, and supplies
  • Identify medications correctly
  • Assist other surgical team members with the cleaning of the operating room in readiness for the following procedure
  • Assist the circulating nurse and/or anesthesia personnel as requested
  • Assist with the orientation of new personnel
  • Take call as assigned
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the technical skills associated with cardiovascular, peripheral vascular, and thoracic procedures
Requirements:
  • Graduate from an accredited surgical technology program or accredited school of vocational nursing
  • Current certification as a Surgical Technologist or current license to practice as a Licensed Vocational Nurse in the State of Texas
  • Must use comprehensive judgment in making decisions related to the channeling of communications
  • Exhibits and exercises an awareness of own legal responsibilities in delivering patient care

  • 2 years of experience as a Certified Surgical Technician or Licensed Vocational Nurse
