Job Summary

The Respiratory Therapist is a vital member of our healthcare team, responsible for providing and maintaining administration of respiratory therapy procedures. This role requires a high level of expertise and attention to detail, ensuring the delivery of quality care to patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform and Monitor Respiratory Therapy Procedures: Administer and monitor respiratory therapy procedures as ordered by physicians, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of care.
  • Assess Patient Conditions: Conduct thorough assessments of patient conditions, communicating effectively with physicians to ensure optimal care.
  • Document Therapy and Patient Progress: Accurately document therapy and patient progress in medical records, maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
  • Respond to Emergency Situations: Respond promptly and effectively to emergency situations, such as Code Blue calls, ensuring the safety and well-being of patients.
  • Maintain Patient Airways and Ventilation: Set up and monitor ventilators and BiPAP patients, communicating with medical and nursing staff to ensure optimal care.
  • Perform Pulmonary Function Testing: Administer pulmonary function testing as ordered by physicians, providing accurate and reliable results.
  • Administer Pulmonary Consults: Provide pulmonary consults to patients, offering expert guidance and support.
  • Assist with Patient Education and Staff Development: Assist with patient education and staff development, promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Requirements
  • Certification and Licensure: Certified by the National Board of Respiratory Care, with a current license by the State of Minnesota as an RT.
  • Education and Training: Graduates will become registered within twelve months of employment, with a demonstrated ability to follow and adhere to Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital policies, vision, mission, and values.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Interacts well with others, possessing good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Reliability and Attendance: Maintains reliable and consistent attendance, ensuring a high level of commitment to the team and patients.
