Job Title: Faculty - Corrections Education

Olympic College is seeking a qualified Faculty member to teach in our Corrections Education program at the Washington Correctional Center for Women (WCCW) and Mission Creek Correctional Center for Women (MCCCW).

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching classes to incarcerated individuals, preparing teaching materials, assigning grades, maintaining records, and consulting with students as required by the instructional division.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teach classes in one of the following disciplines: Basic Skills, High School Completion, Developmental Education, Business and/or Business Technology, Technical Design, Computer Programming, Web Development, or Horticulture.
  • Participate with department faculty in curriculum revision, program management, and research-related activities.
  • Interview and screen prospective students for the program.
  • Maintain competency assessment records and student progress accountability measures on all students enrolled in the assigned course sections.
  • Monitor and evaluate student performance, including daily documentation, tracking, and grade assignment.
  • Ensure that classroom/lab and equipment are in excellent condition and maintained.
  • Participate in meetings and training as required by the college and DOC.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Adult Education, Education, Applied Linguistics, or other appropriate field.
  • Two years successful teaching, with community college teaching in a correctional facility being the most highly prized, or related training experience.
  • Intermediate-level technology competency, including Microsoft Office Applications and ability to embrace and learn new instructional technologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Adult Education, Education, Applied Linguistics, or other appropriate field.
  • Student advising and student recruitment experience desired.
  • Curriculum development and evaluation.
  • Experience teaching in a correctional facility.
