Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct regular inspection tours to ensure the safety and security of the facility and its occupants.
  • Authorize deviations from established schedules as needed, documenting the reasoning for the deviation.
  • Perform all designated guard functions, including testing and monitoring of building fire alarm and electronic security systems.
  • Respond to emergency situations, including fire evacuation and other emergency evacuation plans.
  • Protect government property, materials, equipment, supplies, records, and data against loss, damage, or unauthorized access.
  • Report hazardous conditions and items in need of repair or attention.
  • Maintain daily reports and log entries for visitors and facility assessment reports.
  • Prepare additional reports as required, including incident reports and statistics.
  • Provide a high state of security in and around the buildings, and respond to emergency situations as needed.
  • Notify the Security Control Room and emergency services in the event of an emergency or unusual occurrence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Requirements:
  • Be at least 21 years old or older.
  • Have a High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Be a citizen of the United States.
  • Meet all basic qualifications.
  • Have not had a previous private investigator or security guard license revoked or denied in any state.
  • Have not been declared incompetent by a court because of a mental defect or illness.
  • Not suffer from narcotics addiction or dependence or habitual drunkenness.
  • Not have been convicted of a misdemeanor under the Lautenberg Amendment (18 U.S.C. 922(g)(9))
  • Not have been convicted of a felony in any state or territory.
  • Not have filed for bankruptcy or another form of documented financial distress in the past 48 months.
  • Be able to work all shifts, including holidays and weekends.
  • Not have been convicted of certain crimes, including illegally using or possessing a pistol or other dangerous weapon, making or possessing burglar's instruments, buying or receiving stolen property, and others.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience as a security officer or in a related field.
  • Completion of Class OPOTA and possession of a Guard Card.
  • Fingerprinting and background check.
