Position: Building Engineer
Overview: EFS is currently seeking a skilled Building Engineer to manage operations for our facilities. This role involves the oversight, repair, and maintenance of essential building systems, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing components. The position requires physical stamina and the ability to work in various environmental conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee the operation, repair, and maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems, including air handling units, pumps, and motors.
• Install and maintain electrical circuits and fixtures.
• Conduct repairs on plumbing systems and restroom fixtures.
• Ensure systems are safely deactivated for maintenance work.
• Perform minor electrical tasks such as bulb and ballast replacements.
• Regularly inspect and operate emergency generators and UPS systems.
• Procure necessary materials for repair tasks.
• Execute routine maintenance tasks, including filter changes and system performance checks.
• Document inspections and maintenance activities, providing reports to supervisors.
• Undertake additional duties as required within the scope of the role.
Qualifications:
• A minimum of five (5) years of experience in managing central building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
- Demonstrated ability to repair and maintain building electrical and plumbing systems.
- Proficient in safely securing systems for maintenance purposes.
- Experience in brazing and soldering copper piping.
- Basic carpentry skills are preferred.
- Strong understanding of building auxiliary systems, including fire safety and emergency generators.
- Familiarity with general building operations, including vertical lifts and overhead doors.
- Ability to communicate effectively and perform arithmetic calculations.
- Knowledge of safe work practices in maintenance operations.
- Physical capability to perform demanding tasks, including lifting and climbing.
- Experience in a healthcare setting is advantageous.
Must be able to perform physical tasks such as bending, lifting, and climbing throughout the workday. The role may require lifting objects up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally moving heavier items.
