Astrion is currently seeking a Naval Systems Engineer to join our team for the Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) Operations and Maintenance initiative, supporting our Navy Division.


POSITION DETAILS

LOCATION:
San Diego, California

EMPLOYMENT TYPE:
Full-Time

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Occasional local travel may be necessary

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

High School Diploma and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience

SECURITY CLEARANCE:
Must be eligible for a DoD Secret Clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required

CERTIFICATIONS:

Either a USCG License as a 3rd Assistant Engineer or higher, or a USCG Designated Duty Engineer license, or US Navy Engineering Officer of the Watch (EOOW) qualification.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

Bachelor of Science degree is preferred, but candidates with a High School diploma and substantial experience/certification will also be considered.

Experience in operating and maintaining contemporary engineering plant control and monitoring systems.

Familiarity with mechanical and electrical systems maintenance and operation, including diesel engines, fuel systems, electric motors, pumps, and various voltage systems (480/120 VAC and 24/12 VDC).

Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).

Experience in testing vessels or systems in maritime environments.

Background in military or research vessel operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Operating and maintaining diesel engine systems.

Perform routine and corrective maintenance on large Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV) Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) systems.

Monitor, operate, and maintain HM&E systems both in port and at sea (remotely and onboard).

Assist in planning maintenance and overhaul activities at shipyards.

Support USV system development and payload integration efforts.

Develop maintenance plans and at-sea testing protocols for new and integrated equipment.

SALARY RANGE:
Estimated annual salary of $95,000 USD
