Role Overview:

The CT Imaging Specialist position requires a highly qualified professional adept at utilizing advanced computerized x-ray machinery to create detailed cross-sectional images of the human body. These images play a crucial role in assisting radiologists with the diagnosis of various medical conditions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate advanced x-ray scanners to generate computer-based cross-sectional images, commonly known as a CAT (Computed Axial Tomography) Scan.
  • Prepare and educate patients prior to examinations.
  • Deliver exceptional patient care and maintain effective communication to facilitate various procedures.
  • Thoroughly document patient medical histories prior to examinations.
  • Position patients to optimally showcase the required anatomy.
  • Adjust technical settings to accurately depict anatomy and any pathologies.
  • Ensure the mental and physical safety and comfort of patients.
  • Perform additional assigned tasks as necessary.

Imaging departments working with inpatients are expected to participate in an on-call rotation regularly and provide coverage for multiple hospital locations when needed.

Qualifications

Education:
  • Completion of a Radiologic Technology Associate's degree program or equivalent.
  • Preferred completion of a CT technology certification program.
Experience:
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience in CAT Scan is preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
Certification from the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association is required. Current R.T.(R)(ARRT) certification is mandatory.

Completion of relevant eligibility criteria as per ARRT standards within 6 months (120 scans). Must schedule ARRT(CT) within 30 days of fulfilling item #3.

Must obtain R.T.(R)(CT)(ARRT) certification within 18 months of completing item #3.

Completion of the American Heart Association Healthcare provider course with Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 calendar days of hiring date through the TH Organizational Development Office is essential (exceptions for certification from a provider other than the TH Organizational Development Office are approved by TH Organizational Development on an individual basis).

BLS Recertification should be done every two (2) years.

Medium Physical Agility Test (PAT) Rating

While fulfilling the responsibilities of this role, the employee must frequently (activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) stand, sit, and walk; occasionally (activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) need to use hands and fingers; and frequently communicate verbally.

The employee may need to exert 20 to 35 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 15 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force continuously to move objects.
