Job Summary

This is a seasonal lifeguard position with the Department of Parks & Recreation. As a Lifeguard II, you will be responsible for leading a team of lifeguards and performing lifesaving activities in a fast-paced outdoor environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of lifeguards in lifesaving activities and emergency response situations
  • Assist in training and planning work schedules and assignments
  • Dispatch and coordinate lifeguard teams
  • Perform first aid and resuscitation procedures
  • Notify dispatch of accidents and rescues, prepare reports, and remove hazards
  • Assist the public and advise visitors of park rules and regulations
Requirements
  • Valid California Drivers License (CDL)
  • Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions and direct sun
  • Ability to follow directions, remain alert, and analyze situations accurately
  • Ability to think and act quickly in emergency situations
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relations and communicate effectively
