Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Radiology Imaging Specialist to join our team at SSM Health. As a key member of our imaging department, you will be responsible for taking x-rays of designated parts of the human body for diagnostic purposes and providing support for the imaging department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Explaining Procedures to Patients

Clearly explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding and provide appropriate educational material.

Preparing Patients for Radiology Exams

Assist technologists with preparing patients for radiology exams by positioning the patient for the procedure.

Assisting with Filing and Retrieval of Patient Reports

Assist technologists with filing, delivering, and retrieving patient reports and charts, matching films to folders, and delivering reports to patient units/physicians.

Following Radiation Safety Procedures

Follow radiation safety procedures and guidelines to prevent patient exposure to unnecessary radiation.

Preparing and Administering Contrast Media

Prepare and administer contrast media and medications within the accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations.

Monitoring Patient Activity

Observe patient activity during procedures and report any abnormal activity to the technologist.

Ensuring Image Quality

Ensure prompt submission of high-quality images and documents sent to PACS, including correct lead markers and patient data/history.

Maintaining Department Cleanliness

Assist in maintaining a clean and orderly department, including procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, film storage areas, and other areas in the department.

Performing Limited CT Procedures

May perform limited CT procedures in emergent situations when a CT technologist is not on site.

Working in a Constant State of Alertness

Work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

Requirements
  • Education

Associate's degree or completion of a radiology certification program.

Experience

No experience required.

Physical Requirements

Constant standing and walking. Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near and far. Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.

Professional Licenses and Certifications
  • State of Work Location

Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin.

Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP)

American Heart Association (AHA).

Radiologic Technologists

Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) and American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
