Position: Residential Life Coordinator (RLC)
We are looking for a dedicated and dependable full-time Residential Life Coordinator (RLC) to oversee our international middle and high school student dormitory. This role is crucial in creating a vibrant and supportive community for our students in Derby, Connecticut.
Key Responsibilities:
- Student Engagement: Develop and implement programs that promote life skills and community living.
- Leadership Support: Encourage student leadership initiatives and build collaborative partnerships.
- Community Building: Organize and facilitate regular meetings and community events.
- Activity Planning: Design and execute a variety of engaging activities on and off-campus.
- Service Coordination: Guide students in community service projects and event organization.
Student Welfare:
- Conduct regular check-ins to ensure student safety and well-being.
- Enforce dormitory policies and address any conflicts or violations.
- Perform bi-weekly health and safety inspections of student accommodations.
- Monitor student behavior and ensure adherence to established guidelines.
- Respond promptly to student concerns and issues.
Academic Support:
- Assist students with academic and social challenges.
- Prepare monthly reports on student progress for parents.
- Coordinate academic calendars and celebrate student milestones.
Administrative Duties:
- Utilize student management software for attendance and event tracking.
- Collaborate with daytime staff and health professionals for student support.
- Participate in mandatory training and safety drills.
- Engage with students and staff through communication platforms.
- Manage various projects and additional responsibilities as needed.
Emergency Response:
- Monitor student attendance and follow up as necessary.
- Assist students with medical appointments and emergencies.
- Provide transportation and support during urgent situations.
Communication:
- Maintain a visible presence in common areas to support students.
- Regularly update staff and students on events and activities.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's Degree is required, with a preference for candidates holding or pursuing an advanced degree in Education or a related field. Experience in educational settings, particularly with high school-aged youth, is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, demonstrate leadership abilities, and show a genuine commitment to the welfare of international students.
Compensation: This is a full-time, salaried position with health benefits, paid time off, and a retirement plan after one year of service.
Work Schedule: The typical work hours are Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend responsibilities.
Live-In Option: A live-in arrangement is available, offering additional compensation and housing benefits.
