We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our Student Housing department at Purdue University Fort Wayne. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing preventive maintenance on various university systems, including electrical, mechanical, building structure, plumbing, and ventilation systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Respond to daily work orders and perform preventive maintenance tasks, including lifting, carrying, and moving heavy equipment and materials.
  • Clean and maintain heating and cooling coils, as well as install, repair, and replace door hardware, plumbing fixtures, and lighting fixtures.
  • Reset breakers, replace fuses, and motor fans, and assist outside contractors in locating facilities and equipment.
  • Diagnose and identify problems with electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems, and assemble and install furniture, shelves, and bulletin boards.
  • Check and assist in logging equipment recordings, and assist outside contractors in locating facilities and equipment.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent experience.
  • At least three years of commercial or industrial general building maintenance experience.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and ability to work at various heights.
  • Valid driver's license and compliance with Purdue University Motor Vehicle Records Check policy.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Some vocational or technical training.
  • Previous mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and preventive maintenance experience.
