Position Overview

This role entails working approximately 12-19 hours weekly, with shifts scheduled during afternoons, evenings, and weekends.

Key Responsibilities

  • The Library Support Specialist is tasked with organizing returned books and materials. This includes ensuring that shelves are orderly (maintaining proper arrangement of books); moving carts of books across different levels of the library; and conducting end-of-day organization on each floor.
  • Additionally, Library Aides manage routine behind-the-scenes tasks.
  • Other responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.

Qualifications - As Determined By the City Of Southfield

The ideal candidate must possess the ability to:

  • exhibit a strong public service orientation and engage with the public consistently.
  • maneuver carts filled with books; perform bending and stretching activities.
  • follow directions and execute tasks with precision and attention to detail.
  • manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • work autonomously on designated assignments.
