Job Summary:

This position performs high-complexity clinical lab procedures in support of the NMH and LCH transplant centers. The procedures involve molecular-based tissue typing, flow cytometric, and solid-phase antibody testing and crossmatch, as well as immunoassays.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Performs, analyzes, and interprets clinical histocompatibility tests, completing all aspects of HLA histocompatibility procedures performed in the CLIA and ASHI certified Transplant Immunology Laboratory.
  • Maintains and ensures quality of laboratory instrumentation and reagents.
  • Manages clinical lab data and generates reports.
  • Completes daily general lab maintenance.
  • May manage one or more phases of a major project or all activities of a small project.
  • Performs statistical tests.
  • Demonstrates good judgment, conscientiousness, precision, and accuracy when performing assigned testing.
Requirements:
  • Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in science or a related field.
  • One year of previous experience with standard clinical laboratory operating procedures or related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with standard clinical laboratory operating procedures.
  • Experience in training new technologists.
  • American College of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ACHI) Histocompatibility technologist (CHT) or specialist (CHS) certification.
  • Experience in data analysis and reporting.
