Job Overview:
As a Gastroenterology Specialist at Albany Gastroenterology Consultants, you will provide exceptional care to patients through initial inpatient consultations and follow-ups, as well as office visits. Your responsibilities will include:
- Obtaining detailed patient histories and conducting thorough physical examinations
- Cultivating differential diagnoses, ordering diagnostic tests, and interpreting results
- Prescribing treatments and ordering inpatient procedures as necessary
- Maintaining accurate and concise entries in medical electronic health records
- Ensuring patients are adequately prepared and cleared for procedures
- Triage new consultations and update hospital census and billing documents
- Responding to correspondence from hospitalists, consultants, ER, and transfer center
- Communicating with family members for collateral history, obtaining consent for procedures, and updating them on patient status
- Explaining test results and procedures to patients and their families
- Strategizing and coordinating patient care pathways for additional outpatient care
- Managing workflow in the hospital setting to enable physicians to focus on procedures and higher-level activities
- Communicating with physicians for patient presentations and alerting them to critical findings
- Treating patients with dignity, without bias, and with the highest standard of care
Job Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A current New York State license and certification
- Current BLS Certification
- Prior experience in office, hospital, and gastroenterology settings is a plus
