About the Position

We seek an International Development Evidence Specialist to support the Office of the Chief Economist at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). The successful candidate will work closely with our team to analyze and synthesize global evidence on development programs.

Responsibilities

  • Synthesize Global Evidence and Provide Actionable Insights
  • Plan and carry out comprehensive analyses of cost-effectiveness evidence related to specific development outcomes.
  • Develop actionable recommendations for USAID colleagues on how to assess program effectiveness and cost-effectiveness.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest external randomized evaluation evidence and identify opportunities to apply insights to USAID's work.
  • Build Capacity through New Tools, Guidance, and Products
  • Engage with USAID stakeholders to understand how they use cost-effectiveness evidence in program design and implementation.
  • Develop tools and guidance to support USAID colleagues in using cost-effectiveness evidence.
  • Identify and execute new approaches to strengthening the knowledge and abilities of Agency staff in using evidence from randomized impact evaluations and cost-effectiveness analyses.
  • Provide Technical Assistance to USAID Operating Units
  • Recommend changes to Missions and other Operating Units to improve their use of cost-effectiveness evidence.
  • Build strategic relationships with USAID teams to surface collaboration opportunities.
  • Provide hands-on technical assistance to USAID teams on the use and generation of evidence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in economics, public policy, or a related field plus five years of relevant experience or Master's degree plus three years.
  • Experience reviewing and summarizing evidence on program impacts and cost-effectiveness in international development.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to assimilate large amounts of information.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
  • Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work collaboratively in an international environment.

Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $85,000 — $105,000 USD per year, depending on qualifications and experience. Our benefits package includes healthcare insurance and other staff welfare benefits and perks.
