Land Survey Specialist

The Land Survey Specialist will collaborate closely with the Regional Landfill Supervisor, Landfill Supervisor, Assistant Landfill Supervisor, and Site Engineer to deliver expert surveying assistance at designated facilities involved in the disposal of construction and demolition, as well as commercial and residential waste at the landfill.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday
Working Hours: 7:00 am - 5:00 pm
Key Responsibilities:
- Operation of GPS instruments, including software programming, hardware management, and maintenance.
- Provide training on instruments and software to heavy equipment operators equipped with GPS technology.
- Oversee hardware and software installation and configuration for new facilities.
- Conduct calculations across various land surveying applications, including CADD volumes, boundary, and topographic mapping.
- Manage and coordinate third-party surveyors.
- Gather, compile, and stake out 'as-built' survey data for infrastructure projects.
- Complete survey and surface evaluations.
- Perform duties in accordance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.
- Foster a positive work environment that promotes respect among colleagues.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Capability to exercise sound judgment and take accountability.
- Ability to follow directions from multiple sources and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Commitment to compliance by utilizing personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary.
- Adherence to all departmental rules, procedures, and guidelines.
- Understanding of Trimble GPS applications.
- Familiarity with construction equipment and the application of GPS technology on machinery.
- Willingness to travel away from home district, potentially requiring overnight stays.
- Valid driving record; must meet driving qualifications.
- Frequent lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling up to 10 lbs.
- Occasional lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling up to 20 lbs.
- Regular outdoor work.
- Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Continuous outdoor work in various conditions.
- Exposure to dust, odors, mist, gases, and other airborne materials.
- Potential exposure to high traffic areas and confined driving spaces.
- Interaction with residential and commercial waste.
- Ability to travel between different offices as needed.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including nights and weekends when required.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Possession of a valid driver's license (if applicable).
- Successful completion of pre-employment testing is required.
- Proficiency in reading and speaking the English language.
