  • Perform blood draws, accurately label specimens, and manage specimen processing, including centrifugation and maintenance documentation.
  • Collect and handle specimens in accordance with established protocols.
  • Clearly communicate the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods to patients.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in using both straight and butterfly needles.
  • Comprehend and execute all physician orders effectively.
  • Ensure accurate matching of laboratory requisition forms with specimen tubes.
  • Process specimens by labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing as per testing requirements.
  • Verify all test requisitions or computer labels for 100% accuracy.
  • Package specimens appropriately for transport.
  • Store specimens at required temperatures and ensure proper labeling and handling to maintain specimen integrity.
  • Adhere to OSHA and DEP regulations diligently.
  • Participate in annual training sessions within the department.
  • Respond to phone inquiries and provide laboratory results as needed.


Essential Qualifications:

  • Valid Phlebotomy certification (National/State Certification) is required.
  • Experience with pediatric and geriatric populations is highly preferred.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in performing venipunctures in a high-volume laboratory or clinical environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High School Diploma or GED is necessary.
  • 1-4 years of relevant experience.
  • Must successfully pass a color vision assessment.

Availability to work Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm is required.

Training will be provided, and expenses for travel will be covered.
