Orthopaedic Surgery Advanced Practice Provider

We are seeking a highly skilled Advanced Practice Provider (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our Orthopaedic Surgery team at Martin Health. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality patient care, collaborate with physicians, and contribute to the development of treatment plans.
Responsibilities- Conduct thorough medical histories, perform complete physical examinations, and initiate appropriate lab and radiology tests to establish a record of the patient's current health status and develop a working diagnosis and treatment plan.
- Collaborate with physicians to provide comprehensive care and make decisions regarding patient treatment.
- Perform routine procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing, and wound care, as well as assist in the management of more complex illnesses and injuries.
- Prescribe and monitor medications as allowed by prescriptive authority through applicable state Board of Nursing/Medicine and CCF policy.
- Participate in medical team rounds, collaborate with nursing and other healthcare team members, and ensure quality patient care.
- Refer patients to specialists as appropriate for consultation or for specialized health resources and treatment.
- Ensure continuity of care by serving as a liaison between patient and other members of the multi-disciplinary care team or with other specialty areas as necessary.
- Perform research follow-up studies, assist in data analysis, and participate in quality monitoring through the review of records and treatment plans for patient outcomes.
- Facilitate appropriate length of stay, discharge planning, and compliance with regulatory standards for inpatient management.
- May serve as clinical preceptor for PA/APRN students and other health professionals, as well as faculty for onboarding new employees.
- APRN: MSN or higher graduate degree in nursing required upon hire or within 3 years of hire for external hires and internal hires moving from a non-APRN licensed role to an APRN licensed role. Graduate of an accredited APRN graduate program.
- PA: Graduate of an A.R.C.-approved Physician Assistant Program. Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies and/or applicable state license through the State Medical Board for certificate to practice.
- Current certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) through a nationally accredited organization recognized by the state Board of Nursing/Medicine.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) may be required based upon work setting.
- Two years clinical nursing experience preferred for APRN. Two years relative clinical experience preferred for PA.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent analytical and decision-making skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team. The ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action is also essential. Depending on practice, surgical fields may require surgical experience.
