At South Florida Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, we are seeking a highly skilled Patient Account Representative to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for responding to incoming telephone calls and in-office patients, providing prompt and courteous information to inquiries related to patient accounts, and making every reasonable effort to assist in resolution of problems or requests.
Key Responsibilities
• Respond to all incoming telephone calls and in-office patients, in need of assistance with their account balance.
• Provide prompt, courteous, and accurate information to inquiries related to patient accounts.
• Make every reasonable effort to assist in resolution of problems or requests.
• Contact patients with balances prior to their next visit to advise of outstanding balance due at time of visit.
• Follow established procedures for payment method (credit card, check, cash) and posting by Billing Department.
• Create and maintain credit card contracts in Lucy for monthly payments.
• Post monies to patient accounts and reconcile at end of day.
• Work statement report to send final notices to patients.
• Meet with Manager to review status of patient accounts and prepare to respond to questions regarding account status.
• Maintain working knowledge of NextGen EPM and EMR, as well as EpicCare Link (if applicable), in order to access any patient information required for submission of claims, working outstanding patient accounts, and responding to questions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
• Outstanding customer service telephone skills.
• Medical insurance terminology.
• Solid computer and math skills.
• Attention to detail and follow through. Not easily distracted by surroundings.
• Able to maintain a calm, level-headed demeanor under stress.
• Dependable and committed to excellent attendance.
• Team-focused.
• Able to sit for long periods of time, wear a headset, speak on the phone for long periods of time, use a computer keyboard, monitor, mouse, and telephone.
