Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide ongoing production assistance to resolve challenges related to thermal spray technologies, protective coatings, and painting applications.
  • Formulate, prepare, and blend coatings or solutions in accordance with established specifications, while developing spray recipes and application sequences.
  • Configure and operate a variety of manual, semi-automatic, and robotic spray systems.
  • Create, update, document, and test control programs for robotic, automated, and semi-automated spray applications.
  • Educate technicians on the implementation of new processes for thermal spray technologies, coatings, and painting.
  • Guide proper routine and preventive maintenance practices for spray and coating equipment.
  • Conduct standardized tests on spray samples to verify coating integrity.
  • Document new procedures for thermal spray, protective coatings, and painting in the form of technical data sheets and operational instructions.
  • Focus on process controls and enhancements.
  • Analyze, develop, and propose strategies to meet production goals, enhance quality, and minimize turnaround times for products and processes, including supporting cost assessments.
  • Establish, evaluate, and respond to performance metrics related to processes.
  • Investigate and initiate corrective measures for equipment and process-related issues to minimize variation and enhance reliability.
  • Identify necessary actions to develop and implement new spray processes and repairs based on engineering data.
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of repair trials to gather data for new or existing repairs.
  • Analyze and document outcomes from repair trials.
  • Research and perform cost-benefit analyses for potential new equipment acquisitions.
  • Collaborate with external resources, including contractors and equipment suppliers, for process support and improvement.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to the Engineering team in developing new repair techniques for aerospace components.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in thermal spray, protective coatings, and painting technologies.
  • Adhere to all relevant safety protocols and promptly report any unsafe conditions or practices.
  • Engage in special projects as assigned.
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of thermal spray, protective coatings, and painting processes.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following educational background and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing setting with a focus on painting processes.
  • Proven ability to program Fanuc Robots.
  • All candidates must be U.S. Citizens due to the nature of the work.
