Job Overview
Sinclair Broadcast Group is seeking a highly skilled Multimedia Meteorologist/Reporter to present the weather forecast for a minimum of two evenings per week and create engaging multiplatform content.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver clear, concise, and compelling weather forecasts, warnings, and alerts for various platforms.
- Pitch story ideas, develop contacts, and report on weather-related events up to three days a week.
- Collaborate with producers to determine relevant weather content for breaking and everyday situations.
- Utilize social media effectively during severe weather events and write weather stories.
- Make public appearances on behalf of the station.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Meteorology or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Previous weather presentation and reporting experience (such as an internship) preferred.
- Ability to tell memorable and meaningful stories, with a focus on visual and compelling storytelling.
- Demonstrated experience with active and visual live shots.
- In-depth knowledge of weather forecasting.
- Sharp news judgment and exceptional writing skills.
- Ability to multitask while meeting deadlines and prioritizing tasks.
Compensation and Benefits:
The base hourly compensation range for this role is $19.23 to $20.19 per hour. Final compensation will be determined by factors such as relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Full-time positions are eligible for benefits including retirement plans, life and disability insurance, health, dental, and vision plans, flexible spending accounts, sick leave, vacation time, parental leave, and an employee stock purchase plan.
