Position Overview:
The Ultrasound Imaging Specialist is responsible for delivering exceptional patient care by conducting ultrasound examinations as directed by a physician to assist in identifying medical conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure accurate patient identification and verify examination orders.
- Prepare patients for ultrasound procedures, employing appropriate imaging techniques to guarantee timely, safe, and high-quality diagnostic results.
- Exhibit proficiency in performing a variety of examinations across all patient age groups, including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics, adhering to established protocols and ACR guidelines.
- Demonstrate expertise in utilizing all clinical equipment within the department.
- Complete and annotate medically acceptable examinations in accordance with ACR guidelines, maximizing diagnostic information while minimizing time spent.
- Adhere to protocols regarding medical necessity, coding, and billing, ensuring necessary consents are obtained and documenting any occurrences for quality assurance.
- Maintain a current quality control program for ACR and report any equipment malfunctions or issues.
- Implement safe practices concerning body substance protection, equipment sanitation, and proper sterile techniques.
- Accurately complete all required documentation, including timestamps and image storage.
Minimum Qualifications:
- ARRT Registry or ARDMS Registry is required.
- The ARDMS must include successful completion of one registry relevant to the department beyond physics (options include OB, abdominal, neuro, breast, and vascular).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers is mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in ultrasound imaging is advantageous.
Physical Demands:
- The role requires abilities such as carrying, hearing/listening, lifting, manual dexterity, pulling/pushing, seeing, sitting, speaking, and standing.
