Job Title: Family Service Assistant

Under the guidance and supervision of the Program Coordinator, the Family Service Assistant is responsible for providing support to families assigned to the program. This includes connecting them to community resources and navigating them through the Rochester City School District (RCSD) and other pertinent systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct parent meetings, parent activities, and home visits to build relationships and provide support.
  • Provide interpretation and transportation services as needed, and maintain up-to-date case notes about services provided in each family's file.
  • Develop a trusting relationship with families, interact positively and respectfully with staff, parents, students, and colleagues, and demonstrate a commitment to the mission of Ibero-American Action League, Inc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the FSA Program Coordinator.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in Human Services or a related field.
  • Family Service Credential.
  • Experience working with urban youth and families.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, both oral and written.
  • Knowledge of the Latino community and its needs.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of community resources and the RCSD systems, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A valid NYS license and access to own transportation are required.
