Senior Laboratory Quality Assurance Manager

High-Paying Laboratory Quality Assurance Job Opportunity in Washington, DC
The selected candidate will be responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining a robust Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with ISO 17025 standards. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional leadership and decision-making skills to provide daily oversight of all QMS aspects.
Main Responsibilities:
- Review laboratory data and reports, ensuring timely delivery of results to government representatives
- Collaborate with government representatives to authorize material selection, usage, and qualification
- Ensure in-control performance of laboratory analysis through ad-hoc, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual statistical reviews
- Promote participation in external accreditation and proficiency test programs, reporting results as necessary
- Lead quality and procedure review meetings with contractors
- Identify, document, and report non-conformances to management
- Report process deficiencies to management
- Provide QMS performance reports to management during Management Reviews
- Maintain documentation and training/certification records
- In conjunction with government representatives, develop experimental design and requirements documentation for new laboratory tests and methods
- Evaluate test plan results, providing a statement regarding fit for intended use
- Prepare quality status reports
- Coordinate and perform laboratory procedure reviews and recommendations
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a biological, chemical, or physical science-related field
- 3-5 years of recent related laboratory work experience in a certified public health or environmental laboratory
- 2 years of demonstrated quality management, leadership, and decision-making experience
- Extensive knowledge of quality management systems and quality improvement tools and techniques such as Six Sigma or Lean
- Working knowledge of computer and analytical software programs sufficient for electronic data evaluation, data interpretation, and report development
- Strong understanding of analytical principles, practices, and techniques in various laboratory areas
- Experience conducting quality assurance audits and reviews to determine compliance status and recommend corrective action plans
Security Clearance:
- Able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance and DHS Suitability
