The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) plays a vital role in supporting plasma center operations. This position requires a high level of customer service and quality commitment, ensuring that donors receive exceptional care and attention.
Key Responsibilities- Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, medical history interview, and physical examination.
- Evaluate donor reactions and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for medical emergencies.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
- Support employee vaccination programs and manage employee incidents.
- Participate in pandemic investigations and support local community responses as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent, including a graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program.
- Current licensure or certification as a Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician Assistant (PA) in the state where responsibilities will be assigned.
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Satisfactorily complete FDA-approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
