Job Description:

The Facilities Maintenance Worker will perform general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings requiring practical skill and knowledge in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Replace electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors.
  • Plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings.
  • Replace broken windowpanes.
  • Repair and replace door jambs and door closures.
  • Paint structures, equipment, doors, windows, etc.
  • Repair concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks.
  • Replace damaged paneling and floor tiles.
  • Install, repair, and adjust locking hardware.
  • Repair and replace sinks, water coolers, and toilets, and perform other basic plumbing needs.
  • Perform general maintenance on equipment, machinery, and facility.
  • Maintain existing lock systems.
  • Identify additional maintenance needs requiring attention and report those to the appropriate supervisory personnel.
  • Perform basic housekeeping duties as needed, including emptying trash containers, sweeping, and mopping floors, cleaning drains, disposal of trash and recyclables to proper location, etc.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in good condition; plan and organize assignments effectively.
  • Organize all work assigned and complete accurately and on-time all work tickets and required paperwork.
  • Present a professional, positive, and helpful attitude at all times when interacting with customers, co-workers, and supervision.
  • Maintain effective communication with management, employees, and customers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Safety Requirements:
  • Comply with and actively participate in the GCR Occupational Safety & Health Program.
  • Perform all assigned work safely and reasonably that avoids preventable injury and preventable property/equipment damage to you, co-workers, Customers, the Company, and/or the public.
  • Safely perform functions of the position, including proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis, lockout/tagout, and wearing PPE as required.
  • Through leadership and personal example, exemplify a personal commitment to and support of the Company/Project Safety Culture.
  • Monitor subordinate safety compliance, ensuring safety is an integral part of all work activities.
  • Take appropriate corrective action (stop-work, remedial training, disciplinary action, etc.) when subordinates fail to comply with established OSH policies & procedures to prevent recurrence.
  • Immediately report all occupational injuries, unsafe conditions, and/or property damage.
  • Use and enforce the wearing of personal protective equipment.
  • Always wear a seatbelt while operating/riding in a company vehicle, or a privately owned vehicle while performing work activities or acting as an agent of the Company.
  • Never talk on the phone without hand-free option or text message while operating in a company vehicle or a privately owned vehicle while performing work activities or acting as an agent of the Company.
  • Not be unfit for work due to the presence, ingestion, consumption, or inhalation of illegal drugs, prescribed medications, over-the-counter drugs, and/or alcohol.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain base access.
  • Submit to and successfully pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
  • Valid state driver's license.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Not be color-blind.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Three years of recent experience within the past five years in facility maintenance.
Preferred:
  • Prior experience working on government contracts.
  • OSHA 10.
