Acute Care Surgeon Scientist

The University of Minnesota Department of Surgery is seeking an academic Acute Care Surgeon-scientist with dedicated protected research time on the tenure track.
Clinical responsibilities for the position are negotiable but would include some combination of acute care, critical care and trauma surgery at the University of Minnesota Medical Center and our affiliate and partner sites.
The applicant would be responsible for approximately 16-18 weeks of clinical service, inclusive of call responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities- Participate as the attending staff in one or more of the intensive care units associated with the Division
- Participation as a Surgeon or Intensivist at one of our partner facilities
- Teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows
- Full participation in departmental activities including but not limited to grand rounds, CEU quality meetings, Promotion and Tenure committee meetings, and faculty meetings
- MD degree or equivalent
- Must have or be able to obtain board certification in Surgery and Critical Care
- Must have or be able to obtain a Medical License in the state of Minnesota
- Demonstrated commitment to providing quality and compassionate patient care
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and collegiality with staff and partners
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching and research
