Position Title: Law Enforcement Officer Class II

Overview: The Clayton Police Department is actively seeking a dedicated and diligent individual for the role of Law Enforcement Officer Class II. This position is crucial for maintaining the department's reputation as a professional and respected law enforcement agency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Uphold the integrity and professionalism of the department.
  • Engage in community policing and maintain public safety.
  • Participate in various law enforcement duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Possess one of the following credentials:
    • A valid Basic Police Officer Certification from the New Jersey Police Training Commission.
    • A SLEO-2 Certification from the New Jersey Police Training Commission.
    • An Associate's Degree or higher from an accredited institution.
    • An honorable military discharge after full service, accompanied by 30 college credits.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and a resident of New Jersey.
  • Proficient in reading and writing the English language.
  • No convictions for any indictable offenses under New Jersey laws or federal laws, nor any crimes involving moral turpitude.
  • Possess a valid New Jersey driver's license.
  • Successfully complete a comprehensive background investigation.
  • Pass a physical fitness assessment.
  • Undergo and pass a drug screening as per the Attorney General's Law Enforcement Drug Testing Policy.
  • Complete a medical examination with a certified medical professional.
  • Pass a psychological evaluation.
