Position Overview: The Vice President of Financial Operations at Community Hospital will work closely with the Chief Executive Officer and the Board of Directors to oversee the financial strategies and operational integrity of the hospital.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate the hospital's financial health and produce regular financial and operational reports.
- Lead the financial planning, revenue management, payroll, and accounting functions while supervising treasury, budgeting, auditing, taxation, procurement, and real estate operations.
- Formulate and enforce policies and procedures to protect assets and comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Ensure accountability and reporting standards are met for federal and state agencies, maintaining a fiscally responsible operational flow.
- Foster collaborative relationships with financial institutions, the healthcare community, staff, volunteers, and board members.
- Oversee departments including Business Office, Medical Records, IT, and Purchasing.
Strategic Contributions:
- Support the hospital's mission and ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and standards.
- Engage in the development of strategic plans and objectives to promote growth and service provision to the community.
- Conduct thorough analyses of operational data to identify needs and implement effective solutions for financial operations.
- Promote a culture of safety and quality, encouraging staff to identify and address safety and quality concerns.
- Manage the preparation and oversight of operational, project, and capital budgets, ensuring effective risk management and financial controls.
General Expectations:
- Commit to exceeding expectations of physicians and staff in all job functions.
- Maintain all necessary hospital accreditations and comply with regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related field is required; a graduate degree or CPA designation is preferred.
- 5-7 years of progressive experience in hospital finance and accounting, with prior experience as a Hospital Controller or CFO.
- Demonstrated managerial experience and a comprehensive understanding of hospital financial reporting and operations.
Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of healthcare finance practices, regulations, and guidelines.
- Proficient in financial management, accounting systems, and risk management.
- Strong leadership, strategic management, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent customer service orientation and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to motivate and manage teams effectively.
