Position SUMMARY

We are looking for an Underwriting Support Specialist to join our Financial Lines team. The role can be performed from various locations. The Underwriting Support Specialists are tasked with reviewing and evaluating incoming transactions and associated data for thoroughness, precision, and quality. They handle multi-line new business applications, renewal processes, and endorsements, ensuring timely and accurate processing, including rating, policy formulation, and documentation assembly.

  • Consistently reviews and complies with departmental processing standards and procedures to maintain accuracy, including suggested modifications.
  • Foster underwriting relationships by providing prompt responses to service inquiries.
  • Document all correspondence activities with both internal and external stakeholders, including daily logs on pending transactions.
  • Ensure adherence to state regulations concerning cancellations and reinstatements.
  • Collect and assess underwriting data, including experience reports, final audits, loss control assessments, financial documents, and loss histories.
  • Manage internal report updates as directed by management.
  • Engage in peer review and quality assurance for the team as necessary.
  • Participate in special projects and company initiatives as required.
Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree or relevant professional experience is essential.
  • A minimum of 3 years of Underwriting Assistant experience, with specific knowledge in Financial Lines being advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of underwriting principles, product-specific coverage, policy documentation, pricing methodologies, regulatory compliance, and insurance systems.
  • Proficient in MS Office, particularly with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent desk management and both written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Capability to prioritize competing demands and requests to complete tasks within required timelines while managing a high volume of work.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and mathematical proficiency.
  • Able to thrive in a team-oriented environment and manage multiple deadlines effectively.
  • A self-motivated individual who is driven by independent learning and research.
