Job Overview

The Financial Lines Underwriting Associate is tasked with facilitating the underwriting workflow across various insurance lines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supports the attainment of goals related to customer groups or financial lines, alongside corporate objectives regarding growth, profitability, renewal retention, pricing, risk exposure, service quality, and producer partnerships.
  • Manages the booking, binding, and issuance of new and renewal policies, as well as mid-term endorsements and cancellations, utilizing appropriate rating and issuance systems in line with established workflows and responsibilities.
  • Actively engages in account management to meet service objectives.
  • Maintains communication with agents, brokers, and underwriters regarding the status of outstanding items.
  • Ensures the integrity of electronic files.
  • Handles cancellations, Broker of Record letters, and countersigning, while investigating and resolving premium discrepancies and compliance issues.
  • Oversees the renewal process for underwriters, reviewing submissions for technical accuracy and following up with producers for any missing information.
  • Evaluates renewal-specific information, including loss data, financials, and applications. Develops underwriting analysis templates and documents changes for the underwriter's review. Manages the quotation process and prepares quote letters for the underwriter.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess strong communication, multitasking, and organizational abilities.

Additional qualifications include:
  • Mathematical proficiency.
  • Understanding of standardized workflows, roles, and compliance standards.
  • Familiarity with relevant rating and issuance systems.
  • Technological proficiency, particularly in Word and Excel.
  • Basic knowledge of financial principles and terminology.
  • Capability to organize tasks and work efficiently under time constraints.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Adaptability to change.
  • Attention to detail.

Education and Experience:
  • Preferred: College degree.
