We are seeking a highly qualified Chemistry Instructor to join our part-time adjunct faculty team at Kern Community College District. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a full range of Chemistry courses, including lectures, discussions, and laboratory sessions.
Key Responsibilities- Teach Chemistry courses, including general chemistry, organic chemistry, and physical chemistry
- Develop and implement curriculum, including curriculum delivered via different modalities
- Participate in student recruitment and articulation activities with local schools, colleges, and universities
- Maintain subject matter currency and stay current with developments in the field of chemistry
- Assess student learning outcomes and provide feedback to students
- Use computer and multimedia technology to enhance teaching and learning
- Participate in departmental, college, and discipline-specific professional activities
- Master's degree in Chemistry or a related field
- OR - Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry and Master's degree in Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Chemical Physics, Physics, Molecular Biology, or Geochemistry
- OR - Possession of a valid credential, which authorizes the full-time teaching of Chemistry at the California Community College level
- OR - The equivalent
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students
- Experience teaching Chemistry courses at the community college level
- Knowledge of curriculum development and implementation
- Ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, and administrators
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
