X-Ray Technologist Job Description

Optum is seeking a skilled X-Ray Technologist to join our team in the Tri-State region. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging team, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our healthcare organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform diagnostic X-ray examinations to help diagnose or decide the optimal procedure for patients.
  • Create a comfortable and tranquil environment for patients to adhere to examination instructions.
  • Identify anatomical orientation on all required images and ensure proper file identification.
  • Demonstrate competency in performing all radiographic procedures and operating related equipment.
  • Greet patients, obtain medical history, and enter information into our computer system.
  • Perform X-rays at optimal quality and ensure patient safety by minimizing radiation exposure.
  • Observe patient vital signs during examinations and provide coverage as needed.
  • Provide instruction and mentoring to new hires and maintain CPR certification.
  • Perform procedures in compliance with standards of care, facility, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain quality standards related to HIPAA regulations and demonstrate a positive patient experience.
  • Submit images of diagnostic quality without recommendation for additional image acquisition.
  • Make authoritative decisions after contemplating various courses of action.
  • Contribute to efficient outpatient operations and maximize productivity.
  • Utilize sterile techniques to prevent contamination and review examinations for technical accuracy.
  • Demonstrate teamwork and interact positively with employees to contribute to a collaborative work environment.
  • Meet or exceed deadlines and follow through on responsibilities.
  • Enhance professional growth and maintain certifications, registration, and active CMEs.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of examination rooms.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologist) certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to use or learn our department's computerized system and associated devices.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate degree or Baccalaureate degree in radiography, radiation therapy, or nuclear medicine.
  • 1+ years of experience as a general radiologic technologist.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with patients, visitors, and employees.
Physical Demands:
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to lift patients weighing up to 300 pounds and place them in appropriate positions.
  • Requires eyesight correctable to 20/20 to operate equipment and review developed films.

  • Physicians and other medical staff.
  • External medical partners.

New York Residents Only: The hourly range for New York residents is $23.22 to $45.43 per hour. Pay is based on several factors, including local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, and more. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
