X-Ray Technologist I Job Description

Optum is seeking a skilled X-Ray Technologist I to join our team in the Tri-State region. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging team, you will be responsible for performing primary diagnostic examinations to diagnose or decide the optimal procedure for patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify anatomical orientation on all required images and ensure proper file identification.
  • Demonstrate competency in performing all radiographic procedures and operating related equipment.
  • Greet patients, obtain history, and enter information into the computer system.
  • Perform x-rays at optimal quality and ensure patient safety.
  • Provide excellent patient care, protecting patients from excessive radiation and observing vital signs during examinations.
  • Provide coverage as needed, including call-outs and extended patient schedules.
  • Provide instruction and mentoring to new hires and maintain CPR certification.
  • Perform procedures in compliance with Standards of Care, facility, and regulatory requirements, and ARRT Standards of Ethics.
  • Maintain quality standards related to HIPAA regulations and demonstrate a positive patient experience.
  • Submit images of diagnostic quality without recommendation for additional image acquisition and perform quality assurance on images and equipment.
  • Make authoritative decisions and contribute to efficient out-patient operations, maximizing productivity.
  • Utilize sterile techniques to prevent contamination and review each examination for technical accuracy.
  • Demonstrate teamwork and interact positively with employees, contributing to a collaborative work environment.
  • Meet or exceed deadlines, follow through, and demonstrate accountability, flexibility, and adaptability.
  • Enhance professional growth and maintain certifications, registration, and active CMEs through education programs, conferences, and workshops.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of examination rooms.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • ARRT certified.
  • Demonstrated ability to use the department's computerized system and its associated devices.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate degree or Baccalaureate degree in radiography, radiation therapy, or nuclear medicine.
  • 1+ years of experience as a general radiologic technologist.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with patients, visitors, and employees within the organization.
Physical Demands:
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to lift patients weighing up to 300 pounds and place them in appropriate positions for equipment operation.
  • Requires eyesight correctable to 20/20 to operate equipment and review developed films.
