Position Overview: Middle School Creative Guide

Caldera operates with a robust budget and a committed team, including a board of directors and a diverse staff of full-time and seasonal professionals. Our main office is located in a central area, while our programs extend into various communities.

Role Summary: The Middle School Creative Guide is responsible for establishing meaningful connections with middle school students and providing hands-on, project-based instruction. This role focuses on developing creative and social-emotional skills through engaging projects that promote personal development and community transformation. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in youth engagement and a deep understanding of how art and environmental education can drive social change.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mentoring & Program Development (70%):
    • Build and maintain relationships with youth and their families to ensure consistent participation in programs.
    • Foster partnerships with schools and community organizations to enhance student success and collaborative projects.
    • Provide tailored support to youth, including goal setting and resource connection.
    • Design and implement a progressive curriculum that encourages exploration of various creative practices.
    • Submit comprehensive lesson plans that align with our educational frameworks.
    • Collaborate with artists and environmental specialists to deliver impactful programming.
    • Manage logistics for program activities, including transportation and supplies.
    • Track attendance and student progress, conducting evaluations as necessary.
  • Summer Program Responsibilities (20%):
    • Oversee and mentor seasonal staff during the summer program.
    • Engage in recruitment efforts to attract local middle school students to participate.
  • Administrative Duties (10%):
    • Participate in staff meetings and contribute to team initiatives.
    • Maintain clear communication with stakeholders and document program outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three years of experience working with youth in educational settings.
  • Strong skills in lesson planning and facilitation.
  • Proven ability to cultivate relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
