Job Summary

Community Action Project of Tulsa County, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Inclusion Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing early intervention education services to children and families in accordance with Head Start Program Performance Standards and other related federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Integrated Content Plans: Collaborate with classroom staff to develop and implement integrated content plans that meet the unique needs of children with disabilities.
  • Coordinate with Multi-Disciplinary Evaluation Teams: Work with multi-disciplinary evaluation teams to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for children with diagnosed disabilities.
  • Conduct Developmental Assessments: Conduct developmental assessments on children with suspected delays to identify potential disabilities and develop strategies for support.
  • Provide Training and Technical Assistance: Provide training and technical assistance to parents and staff on inclusion methods and strategies to promote the integration of children with disabilities into the classroom.
  • Manage Relationships with Service Providers: Develop and maintain positive relationships with Local Education Agency (LEA) and Part C Agency service providers to ensure seamless delivery of services to children and families.
  • Advocate for Families: Serve as a primary liaison for disability services, advocating on behalf of families to ensure access to necessary resources and support.
  • Ensure Compliance with Regulations: Ensure compliance with federal regulations and guidelines related to early childhood education and disability services.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Early Childhood Education, or a closely related field from an accredited university/college.
  • Experience: Three years of experience working with children with special needs and experience working with clients in disabilities areas.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Knowledge of Resources and Referrals: Knowledge and expertise required concerning resources and referrals, Head Start Performance Standards, IDEA, ADA, LEA, IFSPs, IEPs, multi-disciplinary team participation, and development of ECP-managed IEPs for children with health or mental health disabilities.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Proven successful interpersonal relationship skills to maintain effective and satisfactory working relationships with intra-department and inter-department staff, vendors, clients, visitors, and contractors.
  • Organizational Skills: Advanced organizational skills, efficiency skills, and excellent attention to detail with a demonstrated commitment to completing assignments on a timely basis.
