  • POSITION OVERVIEW
    • The Healthcare Support Specialist plays a vital role within the Berkshire Health Systems multidisciplinary medical team. This position is accountable for the efficient execution of daily front office responsibilities, ensuring high-quality patient care and outstanding customer service. The Healthcare Support Specialist collaborates with colleagues to maintain a seamless office workflow, prioritizing patient needs at all times. Responsibilities encompass patient registration, appointment scheduling, front desk reception, payment collection, appropriate call triage, and the ability to manage and de-escalate challenging situations with composure.
  • QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)
    • Experience:
      • A minimum of 1 year of administrative experience in a fast-paced office environment, preferably within a healthcare setting, is required.
      • Proficiency in managing multiple phone lines is essential.
      • Strong clerical and organizational skills are mandatory.
      • Familiarity with Windows-based PC applications is required.
      • Knowledge of department-specific services is preferred.
      • Experience with insurance processes and billing is highly desirable.
    • Education and Training:
      • Completion of two years of college or equivalent professional experience is preferred.
      • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
      • Typing skills of at least 40 WPM are necessary.

      • N/A
    • Additional Requirements:
      • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a proven ability to engage with distressed or dissatisfied patients, families, and healthcare providers.
      • Ability to work autonomously with minimal oversight.
      • Capability to perform effectively under pressure in a dynamic environment.
      • Skill in managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
      • Proven competence in handling confidential and sensitive information is required.
      • Excellent telephone communication skills are essential.
      • Cultural sensitivity and awareness of diverse backgrounds are important.
      • Demonstrated ability to comprehend and follow both written and verbal instructions.
      • Awareness of community resources is beneficial.
      • Flexibility in scheduling is required to accommodate for absences.
      • Self-motivated with the ability to be adaptable and cooperative within a team setting.
      • Outstanding oral and written communication skills are necessary.
      • Proficiency in speaking and writing in English in a clear and understandable manner is required.
