We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety and Training Manager to join our team at Golden Gate Bridge, Highway & Transportation District. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that our bus operators receive the best possible training and adhere to our safety policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Training and Development: Oversee the delivery of training programs for newly hired bus operators, including classroom and on-the-road instruction.
- Compliance and Safety: Monitor and enforce compliance with safety policies and procedures, and investigate accidents and incidents.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and complete documentation of training and testing for each student, and prepare reports as required.
- Supervision and Coaching: Provide guidance and coaching to Driver Training Instructors and Bus Operators, and supervise the performance of trainees.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with the Director of Transit Training and Safety, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
- Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in transportation studies, public administration, education, or related field, and a minimum of five years of commercial driving experience as an inter-city transit Full Time Bus Operator.
- Skills and Abilities: Strong knowledge of supervisory principles and practices, labor and union working agreements, and comprehensive knowledge of Smith System driver safety principles and procedures.
- Licensing and Certification: Possess and maintain a current, valid California Commercial driver's license (class A or class B, with a Passenger and Air Brake Endorsements), and satisfactory driving record.
- Physical Demands: Long periods of standing and walking, lifting 50 pounds, and sitting at a computer workstation.
- Work Schedule: Willingness to work shift assignments from various locations, including weekends and nights.
