Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Staff Registered Nurse to join our Gynecologic Oncology department at HealthEcareers - Client. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care, leading clinical activities, and mentoring junior staff members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Clinical Expertise
    • Provide advanced clinical care to patients with complex needs, including those with gynecologic oncology conditions.
    • Lead clinical activities, including developing and implementing care plans, and coordinating with the interprofessional healthcare team.
    • Mentor and coach junior staff members to enhance their clinical skills and knowledge.
  • Staff Development and Education
    • Identify opportunities for staff development and provide coaching to meet identified goals.
    • Model and coach staff in effective communication, including verbal, non-verbal, and written communication.
    • Provide oversight for new employee preceptorships and ensure a smooth transition into the role.
  • Quality and Safety
    • Model the standards of care related to the nursing process, as outlined in the Houston Methodist Professional Nursing Practice document.
    • Provide care as the staff nurse leader to complex patients and lead the interprofessional healthcare team in implementing plan of care.
    • Anticipate and prevent declines in patient condition and emergent situations, and manage assignment of complex patients and other department demands.
  • Financial Management
    • Model independent time management and prioritize daily tasks to minimize incidental overtime.
    • Actively participate in the stewardship and efficient utilization of resources, including capital and operational budget needs.
  • Growth and Innovation
    • Identify opportunities for practice changes and performance improvement, and investigate and incorporate evidence-based practices.
    • Support change initiatives and adapt to unexpected changes, and champion new care pathways or service line implementations to improve care to the community.
    • Expand individual nursing knowledge and coach staff to grow in knowledge, abilities, skills, and attitudes.
    Requirements
    • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited school of nursing, or Associate's degree from an accredited school of nursing with an additional two years of nursing experience.
    • Three years of nursing experience, with one year in specialty preferred.
    • RN - Registered Nurse - Texas State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure within 60 days, RN-Temp - Registered Nurse - Temporary State Licensure within 60 days, BLS - Basic Life Support (AHA), and other credentials and certifications as defined by department/service line.
