Precast Concrete Specialist Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Precast Concrete Specialist to join our team at Flatiron Construction. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting comprehensive inspections of precast concrete components at various stages of production, ensuring that our products meet or exceed industry standards and specifications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct inspections of precast concrete components, including pre-pour, post-pour, and final product stages.
  • Witness concrete repairs and document them to ensure adherence to approved repair procedures.
  • Perform routine and non-routine tests on precast concrete products, including sampling cylinders, fresh properties, compressive strength, and other required tests.
  • Interpret test results and compare them against established standards and specifications to ensure compliance.
  • Implement and oversee testing protocols, ensuring compliance with PCI standards, ASTM standards, and other relevant industry regulations.
  • Coordinate with supervisors and operations to address and resolve any quality issues identified during inspections.
  • Develop and maintain inspection documentation, including Inspector Daily Reports (IDRs), within 24 hours, providing detailed feedback and recommendations for quality improvement to supervisors.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in quality control within the precast concrete industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of precast concrete manufacturing processes, quality control techniques, and industry standards (ASTM, ACI, PCI).
  • ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I certification.
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Proficient in the use of office software, including MS Office.
  • Proven capacity to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret standards and contract-specific plans and specifications while defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.
