Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Manager to lead our Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems team at Texas State University. As a key member of our Facilities Operations team, you will be responsible for directing the activities of our MEP shops, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services, and maintaining a safe and reliable environment for our students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and monitor the activities of our MEP shop supervisors to ensure efficient and effective operations.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive preventive maintenance (PM) program to minimize life-cycle costs, optimize resource allocation, and ensure system service availability and reliability.
  • Review project plans and related documents to ensure compliance with University standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Manage maintenance and repair activities for MEP projects across campus, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Collaborate with project managers, construction managers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution and compliance with established processes and procedures.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in managing MEP systems or shops, preferably in an academic or large institutional setting.
  • Experience with facilities management and maintenance operations, including knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to motivate and direct a team of professionals.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or other relevant certifications.
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and Building Management Systems (BMS).
  • Knowledge of safety practices and regulatory compliance related to MEP systems.
