Mass General Brigham is seeking a highly skilled Professional Development Leader to join our team in Cardiac Medicine and Surgery. As a key member of our nursing leadership team, you will be responsible for designing, coordinating, and implementing programs for staff development, education, research, quality, and evidence-based practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement programs for staff development, education, and research in Cardiac Medicine and Surgery.
- Collaborate with Nurse Directors, Associate Chief Nurses, and Executive Directors to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
- Provide leadership coverage for patient care and nursing practice in the absence of a Nurse Director.
- Participate in hiring, evaluations, discipline, corrective action plans, and workplace investigations.
- Conduct annual and ongoing evaluation of nurses, patient care assistants, emergency services assistants, and medical assistants.
- Identify learning needs and develop programs for patient education within the area of specialization.
- Facilitate the acquisition of advanced clinical skills in clinical staff nurses and graduate students.
- Participate in development of programs/systems to meet the requirements of state and federal regulatory agencies.
- Represent the Chief Nursing Officer/Associate Chief Nurse/Executive Director on committees as needed.
Requirements:
- MSN or MS with a major in Nursing, or DNP or PhD with a major in Nursing, or a BSN with a Master's degree in a related field.
- Specialty certification required at the time of hire and maintained while employed in this position.
- Current Massachusetts licensure as a registered nurse required.
- Meets health requirements.
- Demonstrated evidence of competent nursing practice in clinical area or specialty.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with the BWH professional community at large.
- Expertise in evidence-based practice, writing, research, and practice development.
- Expert critical thinking skills.
- Expertise in leading training and education programs.
